If you’re a fan of food trucks—and I am—you probably already know about the Kogi BBQ truck. If not, here is your opportunity to track down a roaming L.A landmark, which proudly serves up a mouth-watering blend of Korean and Mexican cuisine, all at incredibly reasonable prices.
The fact is, it’s plain cheap.
Starting with one simple truck in 2008, Kogi BBQ has now expanded to a fleet of five fusion trucks serving the entire Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Of course, you’ll need to track them down. In the old days you’d have to find them on Twitter, but nowadays you can just go to kogibbq.com and check out where they’ll pop up next.
Either way, there’s something exciting about chasing after a food truck to get fed.
And, believe me, the chase is worth it. Especially the short rib tacos, which are really the crown jewel of the whole truck, at least in this realtor’s opinion. Made with two crisply griddled homemade corn tortillas, double-caramelized Korean barbecue, salsa roja, cilantro-onion-lime relish and a Napa Romaine slaw tossed in a chili-soy vinaigrette, they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
And did I mention they’re cheap? For $8 bucks you can get you three tacos and a drink. I’ll take six, please!
So, what are you waiting for? Got to their website at kogibbq.com and check out when one of their colorful trucks will be in your neighborhood. Or you can always find them at Coachella.
